Here are some things
About the therapy process
Since therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach, the course of our sessions can look different depending on your goals. Here’s a glimpse of what our sessions could look like together.
Our First Session:
the first session can always be nerve-racking, especially if this is your first time in therapy. In our first session, we’re all about getting to know you better and hearing what’s on your mind. I’ll also fill you in on how I do things and figure out how we can make therapy work best for you. Together, we’ll map out what you want to achieve from therapy and brainstorm ways to get there as a team.
Getting Started and Feeling Secure:
Here, we team up to figure out what you’re aiming for in therapy, create concrete goals, and spot anything that might trip us up along the way. Think of it like gearing up for a journey – we’re making sure you’re good to go. Together, we’ll brainstorm ways to manage tough emotions, laying down a solid foundation for what’s to come.
Tackling Symptoms and Building Your Toolkit:
Next up, we will focus on managing those symptoms that brought you here. We’ll construct a toolbox of strategies and skills to help you face the challenges head-on, so you can feel more in charge of your own ship.
Processing and Diving Deep:
As therapy continues, we’ll start peeling back the layers to understand what’s really behind those symptoms. It’s like getting to the core of things, uncovering old beliefs, processing past experiences, and enhancing your relationship with yourself and your emotions.
Finding Your Groove and Keeping It Going:
In the final stretch, we envision your post-counseling life and determine how you want to move forward. This tends to be the shortest and most uplifting phase, a bit like planning your next adventure after crossing the finish line. We’ll stay in touch to tackle any new challenges that pop up and make sure you’re armed with all the tools you need for the mental health ride.
